Nigeria is prone to bigger and higher Magnitude Earthquake by General Prof Seidu Mohammed.

The National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) has warned that the recent occurrence of earth tremors in some communities and towns were signs that Nigeria is prone to bigger and higher magnitude earthquake.

Kaduna has been the worst hit state in recent times.

Earlier in July and August this year, Rivers and Bayelsa communities also witnessed tremor incidents.

NASRDA’s Director General Prof Seidu Mohammed, who disclosed this at a Public Presentation of remote and immediate causes of the tremor in some Kaduna communities, in Abuja on Thursday, said it was no longer true that high magnitude earthquake could not occur in Nigeria.

“Disturbingly, the recent earth tremors in Shaki (Oyo State), and some communities in Bayelsa and Rivers states as well as in communities in Kwoi, Jaba LGA of Kaduna state are warning signs of a bigger occurrence”, he said.

He said the causes of the tremor in Kwoi and its environs in Kaduna state were natural.

“The earthquake could be attributed to the stress released from the fault systems of the area”, he added.

Mohammed said underneath rocks where the communities were sitting on might have made a very little shake which was felt by the communities.

Also speaking, Director, Centre for Geodesy and Geodynamics (CGG), Toro, Bauchi state, Dr Tahir Yakubu, said though a bigger and higher magnitude earthquake may occur in or around the country because of the tremors.
“But the government should take this serious and provide the centre with advanced equipment and facilities to enable us monitor the earth activities within and around Nigeria”, he said.
The officials, however, said residents in Kwoi communities were safe and do not need to flee.

Health Tips

In truth, the vagina is like a self-cleaning oven—it doesn’t require any special cleaning method to stay healthy and you shouldn’t put any products or creams inside of it.
Woman showering

A little gentle soap and warm water is all you need to clean your lady parts. But some women insist on douching to achieve ultimate cleanliness, which can actually cause more harm than good.
In case you’re still douching, here are some reasons to stop.

1. Vaginal infections (bacterial vaginosis)
Douching upsets the natural balance of bacteria in the vagina. These changes make the environment more favorable for the growth of bacteria that cause infection. Studies have found that women who stopped douching were less likely to have bacterial vaginosis. Having bacterial vaginosis can increase the risk of preterm labor and sexually transmitted infections.

2. Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)
PID is an infection of the uterus, fallopian tubes, and/or ovaries. Research has found that women who douche may have a 73% higher risk of getting PIDs.

3. Pregnancy complications
Women who douche more than once a week have more difficulty getting pregnant than those who don’t douche. Douching may also increase the risk of ectopic pregnancy by as much as 76%. With an ectopic pregnancy, the embryo implants outside the uterus. The more a woman douches, the greater the risk of having an ectopic pregnancy.

4. Cervical cancer
Douching at least once a week has been linked to a possible increased chance of developing cervical cancer
Ladies, there’s no need to douche or apply products internally. You can keep your vagina healthy by simply washing of the vulva with water during your daily shower or bath.

For Fela shobayo stages exhibitions

Lagos-based artist, Abolore Shobayo, is set to host an exhibition as part of this year’s
Felabration .
Felabration, an annual festival that celebrates afro beat superstar, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, is basically a music feast but Shobayo says the exhibition, titled Echoes, will enrich it as it aims at telling the Fela story from the perspective of an artist.
It is thus scheduled to coincide with the
Felabration slated for October 9 to 16, 2016.
It will hold at the TerraKulture Art Gallery throughout the duration of Felabration.
According to the artist, Echoes will include over 100 masks of Fela and the Queen Mother (Funmilayo Kuti and Fela’s queens) in diverse colours and moods.
“It will also bear a study and display of his fashion sense and wardrobe, all of which were inspired by his essence, mythology, struggle for freedom, human dignity, social consciousness, values, courage and pan-Africanism,” Shobayo says.
He describes Fela as an icon whose life and times inspired many musical acts. So, he allows what he calls the song of his struggles, to speak on in the arts, too.
Sobayo is an artist with a keen political consciousness. He is coming out with a new voice after his first solo exhibition last year, titled Room for Three at Red Door art gallery, Lagos. At the successful completion of the exhibition of Room for Three , he had a residency in Berlin, Germany, after which he completed a Harvard Copyright-X course.
Abolore, as an artist, is embarking on his second solo exhibition, having garnered more knowledge and tools. He strives to constantly create and produce insightful, exceptional and cranially-challenging pieces and concepts to inspire much more than passion for art in those who view his works. Echoes is a testament of the passion, drive and hard-work that becomes apparent with proper training, dedication to the art and the pursuit of excellence.

BABA SUWE WASN'T TORTURED BY NDLEA.

We do not torture the popular actor(BABA SUWE)- NDLEA.

The National Drug Law and Enforcement Agency has said that its operatives did not subject popular actor, Babatunde Omidina, to physical torture during the period he was incarcerated by the agency for allegedly being in possession of hard drugs

The Head, Public Affairs of the NDLEA, Mr, Mitchell Ofoyeju, in an interview with our correspondent on Thursday, reacted to an allegation by Nollywood actor, Yomi Fabiyi, that Baba Suwe’s health had deteriorated due to torture at the agency.

Fabiyi had, in a statement posted on
Instagram on Wednesday, claimed that Baba Suwe told him that he could no longer walk properly because a pipe was inserted in his anus during the period that he was detained by the NDLEA.

“He told me that he
could no longer feel comfortable since that episode. Baba Suwe can hardly walk properly as I speak, let alone go to film. How will he feed and take care of the children that Aunty Moladun left behind?

“He told me when I visited him that he was innocent and a long pipe was inserted in his anus. He was detained for too long, among other things, just because he was randomly suspected like every normal person.

“Torture is criminal and sinful. If this accusation is found to be true by independent investigators, it shouldn’t go unpunished,” he had said.

But Ofoyeju dismissed the actor’s claims as false, saying, “The NDLEA did not torture Baba Suwe. If he was tortured, he would have said it himself. This is just an unfounded rumour on the social media and it should be disregarded.

“As a matter of fact, Baba Suwe was given the best treatment. We treated him with due regard to the requirement of fundamental human rights globally. He was talking to his relatives and lawyer. He was never kept in a prison for the period that he stayed here because he was virtually under our observation.”

Also, regarding Fabiyi’s claim that the NDLEA failed to obey a court order to pay Baba Suwe the sum of N25m in damages, the spokesman said that the agency was not obliged to obey the order since a substantive ruling by the Court of Appeal had directed it not to pay the actor.

“If Baba Suwe had gone to the Supreme Court, perhaps his case would have been upheld. But he did not do so,” Ofoyeju said.
When contacted, Baba Suwe told our correspondent on telephone that he was not disposed to speaking on the issue.

‘You Must Face Trial Over N255m Corruption Allegation’ – Court Tells Stella Oduah

‘You Must Face Trial Over N255m Corruption Allegation’ – Court Tells Stella Oduah

A Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday dismissed an application by a former Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah, asking for an order to stop the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the police from arresting her with respect to the ongoing investigation into corruption allegation against her.

Oduah had filed the fundamental rights enforcement suit, asking the court to prohibit the Attorney-General of the Federation’s office, the EFCC, and the police from “inviting, arresting, investigating or prosecuting” her over the purchase of two armoured BMW vehicles at the cost of N255m by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority under her watch as the aviation minister in 2013.

Justice Abdu Kafarati in his judgment on Wednesday upheld the objection raised by the respondents, to the effect that the court lacked the requisite jurisdiction to hear the case.

He held that that no court had the power to stop security agencies from carrying out their duty of investigation.
He said, “It is not grantable by this court because the court cannot stop security agencies from carrying out their duties.  There is no way a person can be investigated without being invited by the body charged with the responsibility of investigation.

“In most cases, the invitation is even in the interest of the invitee because he or she will have the opportunity of giving his or her side of the story.

“I therefore hold that the application seeking to stop security agencies from inviting, investigating, arresting and/or prosecuting any person suspected to have committed an offence does not constitute a fundamental right action.”

Oduah had in the suit urged the court to declare illegal the alleged plot by the respondents to arrest, investigate and prosecute her in relation to her activities while in office, particularly the controversial two armoured vehicles purchased.
The purchase of the armoured vehicles by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority while Oduah was in office attracted public criticism over allegation that the prices were inflated.

Oduah had argued that the criminal allegations leveled against her as minister had been investigated by the EFCC and the House of Representatives’ Committee on Aviation, which both absolved her of any wrong doing.

She had maintained that the investigation was going to be used as tool for political persecution against her.
She had urged the court to declare that, having earlier been exonerated, any further investigation, arrest, harassment and prosecution of her person in relation to the same issue, amounted to the invasion of her fundamental right to personal liberty, freedom of movement and to be presumed innocent until proved guilty.
“Buhari’s Plan To Islamise Nigeria Is Real” – Ben Nwabueze

Renowned constitutional lawyer, Prof Ben Nwabueze has cried out over what he said was a grand plan by President Muhammad Buhari to Islamise Nigeria regardless of its constitutional provisions which stipulates freedom of religion.

Nwabueze said while fielding questions from newsmen haven hurried out of a meeting of Igbo Leader of thought, ILT, in Enugu that,”This is a very crucial meeting for us because we have not met for more than a year. And if you look at our agenda, such critical issues for discussion, issues like Islamisation agenda and its impact on the unity of the country.

“Islamisation agenda is real, it’s not something that somebody has just conjured up, it’s there. And it’s been implemented gradually. Look at the security agencies; every aspect of security islamists are in control in its entirety. They are methodically, the way they are going about its implementation. Look at Fulani herdsmen menace, it is part of it.

Doctors told a newspaper that the scientists treating the 44-year-old patient are now hopeful of a breakthrough in what has been described as “one of the first serious attempts at a full cure for HIV".
Interestingly, results of the patient’s most recent blood test showed no detectable HIV was present and according to Mark Samuels, managing director of the National Institute for Health Research Office for Clinical Research Infrastructure; “This is one of the first serious attempts at a full cure for HIV. We are exploring the real possibility of curing HIV.
“This is a huge challenge and it’s still early days but the progress has been remarkable " he noted"!.
